Collecting thoughts- –
a jar of fireflies
warm- -dim
starlight shows me
how alone
I really am here
alone- -lost
in the absence
of Friday’s smile
winter slicing
through veins
of memories,
even shadows laugh
to see I bleed
without you
I hold my jar- –
a blanket of thoughts,
waiting.

Winter Whispers- -Waiting

Under winter’s
icy face
river whispers.
Her life- -still,
waiting.
           Awaiting
the sun
warm and golden,
like the fire
in your eyes
during night sing.
I wait- –
you never miss
a drum beat
getting to my heart- –
wrap my legs
around the fire
in you.  No more
waiting like the river- –
flow with me.

Glowing mist shrouds slivered moon,
red- -morning light pierces the horizon- –
minus fifteen degrees- –
complete silence.
Wandering night shadows
slip away,
ice ornaments glisten- –
nature crisp and clean- -embraces
my senses- -electric.
I listen and cling to every particle
– -miracles.
Sage smoke offered inward,
upward- -outward,
I give thanks.
Earth’s eternal love
never sleeps,
unmasked in the dawning
she feeds my soul.
Bird’s wing flutter stirs
snow from branches,
even whispered echoes ripple- –
 action and reaction in motion
turning, churning- –
learning my way back
through ancestral dreams.
It’s an unconditional thing,
nature’s awakening
in this new year.

Spring Blizzard 2003, 8' 3" of Snow Before It Ended.

Drifting
the way snow does
over Earth’s bones, trees
– -vast ocean
crystalline emotion.
Cornices curl
with the wind-blown night- –
stormy seas of unflawed white.
Love is like this drifting.
Wafting feathers- –
my love drifts
crystalline emotion
over you- -against you,
into the vast expanse
of your star bright heart- –
drifting- -drifting back,
returning love to me.

It’s all a gentle drifting- –
love and winter.

Fierce wind
                   bitter- –
                   cold,
your eyes
not so much- –
                   thankfully.
Your arms
encircle me- –
against your body
a pocket of love.

Come softly- –
hand in hand
into the night
when flowers rest
their blossoming faces
– -silently,
shadows become one with the cooling air- –
as will we
with the stars watching
over us.

Come softly with me
into the dawn,
when flowers awaken
to the frosted kiss of fall- –
knowing winter is inevitable.

Come softly
to my heart
where breath is but a faint sound
– -a gentle breeze
fluffing the down of a feather- –
where day and night mean nothing- –
Where time
is only a burden from yesterday,
and all todays
are what really matter.
