I come to you seeking refuge
from my heart,
and the point of being.
I need velvet pouches
of diamond dust wisdom- –
your splintered moon’s
profound treasure- -profound
measure of all the right words,
sentimental and sound enough
to wrap my heart around.

Cold- –
shining sun passes
quickly giving way to twilight.
I might not wait for words
spilling from a splintered moon.
I have no cloak for protection
from the war of heart
versus mind- -mind
versus soul.  I’ve done the math,
a thousand splintered moons
have passed since purpose
escaped my grasp.

I don’t want empty words
of reason’s reasoning
on excuses, or the proper
seasons for making love.
– -I come to you
seeking refuge from my heart
and the point of being
in my skin.  I need
a cloak of protection
to swathe my inner child in.
She’s waiting for answers and sweets- –
needing a reason for being,
beyond- –
           simply being.

Beyond iron gate
black wolf howls
mournful- -hollow twilight
eclipsed by deepening storm
creeping through dark woods.
Winds whistle- -lonely souls
trying- -crying,
death’s underlying bitterness.
Candle light flickers- -dance
the light warming shadows
around my chamber canopy.
Through the halls
cold stone walls whisper
incessantly- -secrets- –
loves, wars
losses beyond my own womb,
beyond simple letting go
of fears and tears- -crusades,
beyond bloodletting.
Fretting- -inevitable knowing
knots the gut- -fluttering
– -knowing loneliness- -deep.
Black wolf howls- -wind howls.
Drafty castle shiver my heart- –
haunting- -lurking ghosts
lost- -trapped- -afraid
afraid- -yet I welcome them,
here- -now,
                    a warming.

Shards of sundown
splinter the tree line
with purple-blue twilight.
Trees- -black in the distance
arc against the shadows,
like an old man
bent against the wind.

Night- -inevitable
settles in around me,
a silent lover.

Moon’s glow holds
your secret safe within me- -your
locket for love, I am.
Sublime sanctuary- -you- –
my gentle addiction- –
your voice
calming silk threads
feathering my skin- -coming
to me in twilight solitude,
a warm summer breeze
kissed with light rain.- -You
my refrain from the light
of things darkness never knows.
Coming in the darkness- -sweet
shadow’s whispering mist
delivering me from the abyss.
Streaming contrasts- -gleaming
black, white- -darkest knight,
though angel bright- -your love,
vast extremes- -no in-between
just these moments- – loneliness
no more than a firefly flitting by- –
you whisper those calming
rain kissed silk threads
softly over my skin- -I sigh.
You, my sublime sanctuary
from the ugly light of things.
Soft caress- -again
again my gentle addiction
my twilight apparition- –
