I come to you seeking refuge
from my heart,
and the point of being.
I need velvet pouches
of diamond dust wisdom- –
your splintered moon’s
profound treasure- -profound
measure of all the right words,
sentimental and sound enough
to wrap my heart around.

Cold- –
shining sun passes
quickly giving way to twilight.
I might not wait for words
spilling from a splintered moon.
I have no cloak for protection
from the war of heart
versus mind- -mind
versus soul.  I’ve done the math,
a thousand splintered moons
have passed since purpose
escaped my grasp.

I don’t want empty words
of reason’s reasoning
on excuses, or the proper
seasons for making love.
– -I come to you
seeking refuge from my heart
and the point of being
in my skin.  I need
a cloak of protection
to swathe my inner child in.
She’s waiting for answers and sweets- –
needing a reason for being,
beyond- –
           simply being.

We walk a lot- -all of us
through each others lives
                  each others dreams
                                           nightmares
through experiences like water- –
cleansing

Many miles we walk
in
  and out
               always
through ragged, shining days
sunny, cloudy, misty haze
– -intimate, lonely nights
star lit, snow lit, city lights

Sometimes we walk in
stay a while- -love
cradles us- -we
take refuge in it
loving

Sometimes turning our
backs- -walking away
continually walking
everywhere, anywhere
– -can’t stay
we walk a lot- -all of us
always coming- -going
within each other’s instances
of death- –
sighing, crying, glorifying
life

Holes in our moccasins
we walk- -different paces
changing faces- -never alone

Your soul- -my refuge
we’ve weathered my chaos- –
a deluge of loss, gain loss.
Time- -only time nothing more.
We meld as one- -water colors
free in the rain- -fluid, brilliant- –
stirring of hearts, stirring
in this mobius continuum- –
dusks, dawns, warm- -cold.
You always hold me,
a peach blossom in your hand- –
softly, sweetly
despite things I do.
Our gentle drifting in you
an eternal thing.
Your eyes- -the unending sky,
you- -the expanse of starts
cradling me- -tenderly.
Safe- -this massive refuge of you.
We know
where this could go- -love- –
getting there is the journey
two hearts take- -searching
for the calm.
we’ve settled
in this fluid painting- –
water colors in the rain- –
absorbing the dusks and dawns,
burning red on the horizon
of our stirring.
