leaf fall carpets woods
quiescent hearts paint dusk blue
dark wings slice cool air

                                       wind tosses pine boughs
                                       whistling under the eaves
                                       cold lake loon echoes

full moon chases fox
chilled mountain shadows settle
among dried nettle

                                       feeling euphoric
                                       color splashes golden-red
                                       frost laden dreams call

wandering no more
festive souls come together
radiant bonfire

                                       defiant cold rain
                                       counts coup on secret lovers
                                       despite singing birds

memories bursting
laughing clouds crystallize sky
before drifting white

For J.T, thank you for your “Spoken Word” and for always being so kind.

Sun glows
gold needles
shining through
open window
in the clouds- –
dark, rumbling- –
light bleeds
on Earth Mother.
                        Sighing- –
soft wind
brushes
her September hair.
I see you there
bleeding gold- -you
endlessly Ghost Dancing
with drums rumbling.
Love and Earth
tether us
forever- –
                 a bonding.

Shadows move
across the clouds
in circles,
patterns of them
bending
like saplings
in the wind,
wings of them
arc toward the sun.
– -Soaring,
a heaven
unknown to man.

Except of coarse,
those of us
                    who
move among the clouds,
free falling
                   – -but not.
We spread our wings
toward the wind
and
by some splintered fragment
of Spirit given knowledge
implanted seed-like
in our souls- –
experience the hawk,
raven, eagle, falcon
and their song of flight
burning deep within.
