Petals

A Bee orchid has evolved over many generations...

A bad day
lasted
a thousand years.
In the dying
of a flower I cried
for the petals- –
dust.- -Just like the one
single breath you pocketed
in the failing light.
Now you know
even shadows bleed
over dying flowers.
Ghosts stir endlessly
waiting for spring
– -its re-birthing, an
unconditional thing.
What’s one breath,
but air.  Shadows
move even in failing
light- -a ballet, night
drifts on silent wings
while embers spark
the sky.  I remain- –
all petals on stone
letting go
                 a sigh.

You sprinkle me
with false smile sunshine
for warmth.
I would much rather
curl up in you- –
a soft blanket,
settle myself
in your soul- -mate.
We could be the fire
in each other’s eyes,
two hearts
dancing circles
around the sun.

Silence- -Singing.

Bitter wind
trees flail
whipping, lashing, thrashing
this mournful morning- –
a fancy white horse
rides in at full gallop.
Trampled dreams fade quickly.

There you are- –
waiting, wild eyed- -hungry.
Red-gold sunrise fire
warms my heart
in the sweetness of you
                                     – -smiling.

I awake to find you
– -warm flame still
burning around me.
Fingers- -blue-white
light stroking softly
my belly.

Don’t let the distance
in my eyes slow your pulse- –
the beat, something
I can dance to.

I’m thinking
about two velvet petals
raining soft drops
in circular patterns
splashing love
around us- -here.
